Owning your own small business is like publishing a diary for the whole world to read.
In all honesty, owning your own business is nerve wracking. You never know what the day is going to bring or exactly how to handle each situation. With each decision made, you let everyone who works for you, dines with you, and who you choose to do business with see who you truly are.
We come to work everyday with the intention of doing our best. Our staff members rely on us to provide a good & safe work environment and pay livable wages. We do our best to make delicious and wholesome food, and give our guests a place for celebration or just an everyday meal with colleagues or friends. Every day we choose to do business with other small businesses in our community so that they grow and prosper too.
In our industry, our daily diary entry is represented by our display of goods that we present and sell. We go through great efforts to gather information and ideas and execute them to be sure that the guests joining us will be as excited about them as we are. We decide who our friends will be by the way we hire our personnel. Will they represent the values and ethics that will make us successful in a long term situation? Our love interests are our guests – we need them to love us and when they don’t, it’s heartbreaking.
The most exciting type of diary entries are the new challenges and achievements. In pursuing our goal of doing our best, we are constantly developing new recipes and thinking about new ways of combining flavors and ideas. The most fun we have is when we have created something new and amazing – whether intentionally or by pure happenstance! But rest assured working with some of the best chefs and bakers you can ask for means you’re going to come up with something exceptional. We strive to be a warm and welcoming place to dine and socialize.
And then there is the love interest. In the restaurant industry, we know if our love is returned by the reviews left by our guests. Do they like us, do they not like us? Did our thoughtful, mindful approach to the special or the pie of the day make or break the experience? Was the service up to speed? Do we provide too much service, not enough? Every time our phones chime to tell us a review has been posted our hearts are in our throats. Did they say yes? Are we going to the prom? Did they check yes or no?
We wear our hearts on our sleeves everyday and the twinkle in our eye doesn’t take a day off. There is no vacation from your heart’s calling. The work and research and trial and error to bring to you the best product possible is what we do everyday.
We hope you enjoy our story and welcome you to be part of it!
